Put a piece on hold, release it, or mark it sold
For sales and counter staff
Last updated: August 5, 2026
Every piece in the workspace is in one of three states: available, on hold, or sold. Available pieces show on your public storefront; the other two do not. Moving a piece between those states is a two-click job from its card.
Getting this right matters more than it looks. A piece left available after it sells keeps drawing calls you cannot fill, and a piece left on hold after the customer walks is inventory nobody can see.
Place a hold
Step 1. Find the piece in the workspace grid and select “HOLD” on its card.
- Result: The “Place remnant on hold” window opens, naming the piece and its size.
Step 2. Fill in who it is for.
- “Held for / reference” takes a client name, job #, phone, or address — whatever your shop will recognize later. Leaving it empty records the hold as “Walk-in.”
- “Job #” is optional and shows on the card while the hold is active.
- “Note” is optional and is the place for things like “picking up Friday, deposit paid.”
Step 3. Select “Place hold.”
- Result: The card moves to On hold and the piece disappears from your public storefront.
Note
Holds expire after 7 days. The Holds board counts it down for you — “Expires in 3 days,” “Expires tomorrow,” “Expires today” — so a piece someone reserved and forgot comes back into view instead of sitting invisible forever.
Release a hold
When the customer passes or the hold lapses, release it and the piece returns to the storefront immediately.
Step 4. Open the Holds tab, find the hold, and release it — or select “AVAIL” on the piece's card in the workspace.
- Result: The piece goes back to Available and reappears on the public page.
Tip
Releasing is not destructive and needs no approval. If you are unsure whether a hold is still live, ask the person named on it rather than leaving it to expire quietly.
Mark a piece sold
Step 5. Select “SOLD” on the piece's card.
- Result: The “Mark remnant sold” window opens.
Step 6. Enter the “Job # / reference.” This one is required.
- A job number, client name, or phone — enough for someone to trace the sale later.
- If it fails: “A job # or reference is required to mark a remnant sold.” means the field is empty. There is no way around it: a sale without a reference is a sale nobody can reconcile.
- “Note” is optional — for example, “sold with the kitchen island job.”
Step 7. Select “Mark sold.”
- Result: The piece leaves the storefront, the Sold counter goes up, and the sale is recorded against the job number.
Note
Sold is a status, not a deletion. The piece and its full history stay in the workspace on the Sold tab, which is how you answer “what happened to that piece?” months later.
