Create a remnant listing
For data-entry staff opening RemnantFlow for the first time
Last updated: August 5, 2026
You will be asked to turn a packet of photos and measurements from the shop into a finished remnant listing. This guide assumes you can tell the main stone types apart (quartz, granite, marble, quartzite) and can handle an ordinary web form. Nobody expects you to know every stone by name — that takes years.
It does not assume any RemnantFlow experience: you have never signed in, and no one has walked you through the workspace. Everything else you need comes from the packet and from this page.
The listing you create is not internal paperwork. Once it is saved with a photo, it appears on your shop's public storefront where customers browse, so what you type is exactly what a customer sees. By the end you will have produced one published (or deliberately hidden) listing.
Before you start
Stop
New listings are public by default. A saved listing that has a photo appears on your shop's storefront immediately. If you are not sure a piece belongs on the website, check “Hide from public page” before saving and ask your manager.
Caution
All measurements are in inches. The system stores the number you type and never converts units — a width entered in centimeters publishes a wrong size to customers.
There is no draft and no autosave. Selecting “Cancel,” closing the window, or refreshing the browser discards everything you have typed.
On the photo toolbar, “Delete” is permanent — it erases the photo file and cannot be undone. Use “Unlink” if you only want to detach a photo from a listing.
What you need:
- A desktop or laptop with a current browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari). A phone works in a pinch, but the desktop editor supports drag-and-drop and photo cropping.
- Your RemnantFlow sign-in — the email your invitation was sent to plus the password you set from the invite email, or the matching Google account.
- The remnant packet from the shop: photo file(s) in JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF, and the width and height in inches (plus two extra measurements for L-shaped pieces).
- Sometimes the packet also carries the stone details: material, stone/color name, thickness, and finish. When they are missing, filling them in is your job.
Note
Your account needs manager access. View-only accounts cannot see the “Add remnant” button at all — if you sign in and cannot find it, ask your manager to upgrade your account before continuing.
- Your sign-in email and password (or the Google account).
- The photo file(s) from the packet.
- Width and height in inches; for an L-shaped piece, the two extra measurements.
- Any stone details the packet includes: material, stone name, thickness, finish.
Stop
If a measurement is missing, or a photo does not show the stone clearly, message the shop team for a redo before creating the listing.
Steps 4 through 17 all happen inside one “Add Remnant” window. You scroll within that window as you work; you do not leave the page until the checks in Part 6.
Part 1 · Sign in and open the workspace
Step 1. Go to yourshop.remnantflow.com/portal in your web browser.
- Replace “yourshop” with your shop's own address — the one in your invitation email.
Step 2. Sign in with your shop account: select “Continue with Google,” or type your email and password and select “Sign in.”
- Result: You land on the staff workspace at yourshop.remnantflow.com/manage.
- If it fails: “Enter your email and password.” means one of the two boxes is empty. If you cannot sign in at all, use the “Forgot password?” link below the form.
Step 3. Confirm that “Workspace” is the selected tab in the top navigation.
- Below it you will see the inventory counters (Available, On hold, Sold) and the grid of existing listings.
Tip
Already signed in from an earlier session? The browser keeps you signed in — go straight to /manage and skip to Step 3.

Part 2 · Start the listing and add the photo
Step 4. Select the “Add remnant” button on the right side of the counter row (the half with the + icon).
- The small arrow beside it opens a menu with “Add slab” and “Bulk upload.” Do not use those for this task.
- Result: A window titled “Add Remnant” opens.
Step 5. Add the packet photo: drag the photo file onto the large box labeled “Drop a photo here,” or select the box to browse to the file.
- Result: The message “Image loaded. You can crop it before saving.” appears.
- If it fails: “That file isn't an image. Drop a photo instead.” means you grabbed the wrong file — often the packet PDF. Choose the photo file.
- Each listing holds exactly one photo; there is no gallery. If the packet has several, use the clearest straight-on shot of the whole piece.
Step 6. Optional — select “Crop” in the Image Tools panel to frame the photo.
- In the Crop Workspace, drag the corners of the frame around the stone. Use “Rotate Left” or “Rotate Right” if the photo is sideways. The frame is fixed at 4:3 to match the listing cards.
- Result: Select “Save Crop.” The message “Cropped image ready to save.” appears.
Tip
If the packet photo is already tightly framed on the stone, skip the crop entirely. It is optional.

Part 3 · Enter the stone details
The Stone Details section sits directly below the photo area in the same window; scroll down to it.
Step 7. Review the number pre-filled in the “Stone #” field and accept it — unless the packet specifies a number, in which case type the packet's number.
- Shops often have their own numbering convention (a prefix letter for their own material, digits only in the system, and so on). Follow your shop's, and do not imitate older listings that were typed a different way.
- If it fails: If “Stone #… is already in use” appears on the pre-filled number, accept the suggested variant (for example, 125A). If it appears on a number the packet specified, select “Cancel” and ask your manager — two pieces claiming one number means something upstream is wrong.
Step 8. Select the Material from the “Select material” dropdown.
- The list is managed by your shop and covers the usual stock — granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, porcelain, and others.
- Choosing Quartz or Porcelain reveals an extra “Brand” box. Fill it in if the packet names a brand.
Step 9. Type the stone's name in the “Stone Name” box.
- Suggestions may appear as you type. These are stones the system has seen before for your selected material — select a match when one exists instead of retyping, which keeps naming consistent and may auto-fill the Brand and Colors. Nothing appearing is normal for a stone that is new to the system.
- The list does not check or correct spelling. Whatever you type is saved as typed, so copy the name exactly as your source gives it.
Step 10. Select the Finish from the “Select finish” dropdown.
- If the packet does not state a finish, select Polished. Stones are polished by default unless stated otherwise.
- If the piece is finished differently on each side, also set “Secondary finish.”
Step 11. Select the Thickness — “2 CM” or “3 CM” for most countertop stock.
- The MM options are for thin porcelain panels.
Step 12. Select the color chip(s) in the Colors panel that match the stone.
- Select a chip to toggle it. The storefront shows up to three colors per listing.
- If the stone's color has no chip you may select “+ Color” to add one. Double-check the spelling first: a new color becomes a permanent chip and cannot be renamed from this screen.
Note
Steps 8 and 9 need the stone's identity, and a packet may include some, all, or none of it. Check three places first — they are the three spots it hides:
The photo's file name. Any label visible in the photo. The message that delivered the photos.
Material type: when it is not provided, telling quartz, granite, marble, and quartzite apart is shop knowledge you already have. Stone name: the system cannot identify a stone from its photo, so the name has to come from the packet or from your own recognition. If you know the supplier, their website is a good place to hunt.
Stop
If the stone has no name anywhere and you cannot name it with confidence, send your manager the photo rather than filing a guess. A listing under the wrong name is worse than a late one.
Tip
Even if you know stone well enough to identify the piece by eye, enter what the packet says — the packet is the record. If you think the packet is wrong, raise it with your manager instead of overriding it.

Part 4 · Enter the measurements
The Width and Height boxes are at the bottom of the Stone Details section, still in the same window.
Step 13. Type the width in inches in the “Width” box.
- Decimals and fractions both work: 36.5 or 36 1/2.
Step 14. Type the height in inches in the “Height” box, the same way.
Step 15. If the piece is L-shaped, check “L-Shape” and type the “L Width” and “L Height” from the packet.
- Unchecking “L-Shape” erases both L measurements.
Note
Follow your shop's convention for which side counts as width. If the packet does not make it obvious, ask — do not swap them by guessing. Size is what customers search and shop by.
Part 5 · Set visibility and save
The visibility checkbox and the save buttons are at the bottom of the window, below the measurements.
Step 16. Decide whether this piece belongs on the public storefront.
- Leave “Hide from public page” unchecked to publish it. This is the normal case — the remnant page exists for customers to browse.
- Check the box to keep the piece internal, for example a piece reserved for a job.
Step 17. Review every box against the packet one last time, then select “Create Remnant” at the bottom right.
- Result: The message “Remnant created.” appears, the window closes, and the new card appears in the grid.
- If it fails: “Company, material, thickness, and stone name are required” — one of those four is empty. Fix it and select “Create Remnant” again.
- If it fails: “Width and height are required” — also appears when a measurement was typed in a form the system cannot read, such as “36in”. Use digits, decimals, or fractions only.
Stop
There is no review step. The listing is live for customers the moment it is saved, and nobody checks it first. If the packet does not say whether a piece should be public and you are unsure, ask before saving — the default is public.

Part 6 · Verify the finished listing
At this point your listing exists. These last steps confirm it matches the packet and looks right where customers will see it.
Step 18. Find the new card in the workspace grid and check it against the packet.
- Check the photo, the number in the top-left pill, the size (shown with inch marks, for example 36.5" x 24.25"), the thickness, the finish, and the colors.
Step 19. Select the globe icon (“View public site”) in the top navigation to open your public remnant page, and find your listing there.
- If you hid the piece in Step 16 it will not be on the public page. Instead, confirm its workspace card shows a small “Hidden” badge.

That's a complete remnant listing. Every field you entered is now what a customer sees.
